One Golden Gala with #1 NY Times bestselling author Carley Fortune was a shining success! The library hosted 240 fans at the arena on Saturday, August 15. Attendees had an opportunity to speak with Carley, take photos, and hear an-hour-long interview with Carley and her bestie Meredith Marino. The afternoon included Carley mocktails, delicious food from the Wino Tavern, and door prizes donated by local individuals and businesses. Each ticketholder went home with a signed bookplate. Many attendees travelled from out of town and took advantage of the weekend to tour Barry’s Bay and the sites mentioned in Carley’s books, including the two benches in town donated by Carley Fortune. We’ve received glowing feedback from the event; everyone left with memories of how warm and welcoming Barry’s Bay is.
Many thanks to the sponsors of this event whose donations offset the expenses of the gala, including the individuals and businesses who donated items for the door prize baskets. Winners went home with various items representing the valley, including books, maple syrup, art work, and more!
We are also grateful to the many volunteers who contributed hours organizing and decorating for the gala. The township provided the area lounge and ran a bar for the event.
The event raised over $25,000 for the library. The library board is planning enhancements to the library space to better serve patrons, and is working with the township to plan improvements to the library building.
Thank you to everyone who made this event a success!
